Delight yourself in the Lord and He shall grant you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4

Part of life is striving to delight ourselves in everything but God. We tend to misunderstand the word of God so many times that we find ourselves frustrated when we see that "our desires" are not beeing granted. I have had to deal with this reality myself.

Sometime ago, I sat down to think about what this passage really meant. Did it mean that God would actually grant me all that I want? Or did it mean something else that I was just not catching at the moment? Well, I made a list of what delight yourself could mean and I found so many precious words that go along with it.

According to the dictionary delight means to give pleasure, joy, gladness, to enchant, to captivate,  and I thought how can we give God all this when we are such sinners?

When we walk in obedience, humbleness, self control, faith, peace, love, praise & worship and the list could go on...we are delighting ourselves in the Lord and He takes pleasure in us, in our passion for Him.  Does this mean that we will receive everything we can think of? No. We won't. But we will receive all of those desires in our hearts that belong to His heart. Those dreams and wants that have been inspired in us by Him.

God loves us dearly and He takes pleasure to see us joyful in this life we have been given. Undeserving, ransomed, forgiven and free. I hope you enjoy this journey alone with Him. Open your heart to this new adventure with the lover of your soul.
